What an amazing month it has been! We began on 8 September and have seen almost 20 children, done 8 sessions, and held a birthday party.

We have also pruned trees, counted frogs and made oak gall ink. This month we will be making pine cone firelighters, continuing with our charcoal making skills, extracting lye from potash and finally, examining the wonderful world of fungi! We will also be doing a Halloween event, so without further ado…

Making bows and arrows
There is a barn to hold the party in

To book please go to this booking form. Activities will include seasonal crafts, biodiversity, art and other STEM based learning experiences.

Price starts at £16 per child for the first ten children and thereafter it is £12.50 per child up to 15 children.

The children had two hours of activities which included making their own bow and arrow… (tensile strength, physics, etc). After that we fired the arrows and Issac and his brother were the winners. We also had a scavenger hunt which had us exploring the woods and identifying all kinds of berries, flowers and leaves… the story was Perseus and the Gorgon’s Head – another version of the dragon story. The Quarries also has a beautiful and homely open space which does parties for 10 to 15 children.

Here is some lovely feedback from the session:

“….they both really enjoyed themselves and feedback from the other families was really positive! Ruairi said he loved the story round the fire and Shrek’s hut and Isaac loved seeing the frogs. From our perspective, the place and space is amazing, having the barn set up was great. You guys were great at answering questions, letting us know rough plan for the day and I thought the games and prizes were spot on.”
